We have always loved the great Piedmont wines so the decision to plant Nebbiolo at our Margaret River vineyard was easy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Europeans describe Nebbiolo as the Pinot Noir of Italy due to the low yields and pale colour of the wine. Our Margaret River adaption of the wine has been a similar experience, with our low altitude, cool, maritime conditions providing for low yielding vines with great intensity and flavour.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a beautifully tannic wine that benefits immensely from cellaring. The good news is that we have done the hard work for you. The year 2013 was the last Nebbiolo vintage that provided large enough yields for us to make a commercial release, and this ageing makes for a great, ready to drink wine that matches with a range of cuisines. The Barreca family are 5th generation grape growers who take great pride and care in producing us the some of the best shiraz fruit that we have seen in Australia.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2018 vintage was just perfect for ripening. A solid wet winter followed by a burst of hot weather in November was just the precursor for getting a great canopy started. Summer was warm without ever being really hot. Over the years you recognise these milder summer conditions really allow for full tannin ripeness. The fruit was in great condition with only a small crop providing for great flavour intensity. The colour development was outstanding from day one and apart from dealing with a higher than expected alcohol, the wine always showed something special.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTasting Notes\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDeep crimson colour with lifted spicy fruit characters and light peppery flavours.
